Vuokatti has a total of some 150 km of ski-trails, which means that everyone is sure to find suitable skiing terrain. The Vuokatti network of ski-trails is divided into two areas: south side and north side of Vuokatti Sports Institute. The lowland area is on the north side and the highland area is on the south side. Nice rest points are arranged along the Vuokatti ski-trails where skiers can stop to enjoy the surroundings and their lunches.

There are frequent connecting ski-trails from the basic network of ski-trails to all of the Vuokatti area's accommodation providers plus a ski-trail to Sotkamo. From Sotkamo, the ski-trail continues onwards to the Hiukka ski-trails and to the tourism enterprises on the east and south side of Sotkamo. The total length of the Vuokatti network of ski-trails (lowland and highland parts) is 150 km, and 120 km of this total are maintained each winter for both skiing styles. Vuokatti has 32 km of illuminated skit-trails.
There is 32 km of illuminated ski-trail in Vuokatti. The lights are not switched on if the temperature is -20 degrees or lower.
The ski-trails of the lowland area leave from the Vuokattihalli parking area. The lowland ski-trails pass mainly through lovely forest terrain where the differences in elevation are not great. The small hills in this part have fairly steep but short stretches, which means skiing is quite enjoyable. All of the ski-trails in the lowland area are maintained for both classic and freestyle skiing.
The ski-trails of the highland part leave from the Vuokattihalli parking area. The ski-trails pass through demanding highland terrain where the differences in elevation are great. The uphill stretches are mainly reasonable and easy to ascend - but there are a few short sharp rises. The ski-trails are divided into trek-skiing and competition tracks from the beginning. The competition tracks are also popular among fitness skiers due to their width and good skiability. All of the ski-trails in the highland area are maintained for both classic and freestyle skiing.
When leaving Vuokatti Sports Institute along the connecting network, skiers can reached the local accommodation providers' premises, e.g. Katinkulta, Vuokatinmaa, Vuokatinranta, and Vuokatinhovi. A well-maintained ski-trail suitable for both classic and free-style skiers also leaves from Vuokatti Sports Institute and goes on to Sotkamo and joins the other ski-trails in Hiukka.
Vuokatti ski-trails are also for relaxation. Among the excellent places for taking a break are the huts, lean-tos, and campfire places set up along the ski-trails. All of the huts are located along signposted outdoor recreation routes.
